At-home Heart Disease Assessment

At Home Arterial Health/Plaque Assessment

Today I want to discuss a cheap and easy way to assess your arterial health. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) and Carotid Intima Media Thickness Test (CIMT) can be combined with the ABI to have a great understanding of your vascular health. ABI helps identify narrowing or stiffness of the arteries. Let's look at the process of testing yourself at home.

Please add these dietary components to your daily intake

Please add flavonols to your diet
A new study has found that flavonols, found in foods like kale, beans, pears, apples, onions, olive oils, oranges, and tea, may help to reduce the rate of cognitive decline. The study, which lasted for 6.9 years, involved 961 individuals aged 60-100. The participants were divided into three groups based on their flavonol intake. The researchers found that the group with the highest intake of flavonols (15 mg/day) had a slower rate of decline in multiple cognitive functions, including episodic memory, semantic memory, visuospatial recognition, and perceptual speed. The findings suggest that flavonols may play a role in keeping the brain healthy as we age. So if you're looking for ways to boost your cognitive health, flavonol-rich foods may be a good place to start.
